14TH SIMPOSIUM
'EQUITY - HEALTH - QUALITY OF LIFE'
12-14 SEPTEMBER 2002 - BÉKÉSCSABA
- To examine the role and importance of social equity in the national practice of health promotion based on the experiences of the Healthy Cities project and other health promotion programmes in Hungary.
- To assist the members of the Hungarian Association of Healthy Cities in their planning and implementation of local activities with a strong emphasis on the role of social equity in health.
- To create an efficient partnership by involving broad disciplines and professionals of social determinants of health especially between local and national projects aiming at improving quality of life.
- To define the strategic aims and tasks of the Hungarian Association of Healthy Cities affecting quality of life and health by decreasing inequity with the involvement of professionals working in various fields of social determinants of health.
- To make sure that during planning of local and national activities and programmes the Hungarian Asssociation of Healthy Cities and its members will give a high importance to those issues and tasks which would improve quality of life and social equity.
- To elaborate possible methods and forms of partnerships with the professionals of all the various fields of social determinants of health.
According to the traditions of the Hungarian Association of Healthy Cities the participants can learn about the results and experiences of various areas linked to the main topic of the simposium during plenary sessions and in work groups.
The following ministries, agencies, and organisations are invited to make presentations:
- Ministry of Health, Social, and Family Affairs
- Ministry of Environment
- National Centre of Health Promotion
- National Public Health Project Office
- National Environmental Health Centre
- Various WHO projects (Health Promoting Hospitals, Health Promoting Workplaces, Health Promoting Schools, etc.)
- National professional organisations and NGOs
Members of the Hungarian Association of Healthy Cities will report about the experiences of decreasing or eliminating social inequity endangering quality of life and health.
Participants of the simposiumThe event is open to any interested Hungarian community or individual to participate and to learn more about the Healthy Cities project. NGOs working for health/environmental health will get special attention during the invitations.
Planned working groupsMembers of the Hungarian Association of Healthy Cities are encouraged to prepare presentations or case studies (max 15 mins) about their local experiences with projects on decreasing or eliminating social inequities endangering health and quality of life in the following topics:
- Local health development planning, research, surveys
- Local activities, programmes
- Evaluation methods, monitoring
